I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. Many of my friends say they know when I am busy, because the posts are few and far between. They are right.
I learned a valuable lesson these past two weeks. DON'T OVER SCHEDULE!!! There is a reason why I quit teaching school to stay home with my babies, it is so I can be at home with them - not running off thinking I have to do every nilly-willy thing that comes up.
These past two weeks have been packed with meetings, playdates, teaching numerous classes, and finally...my first paid photography gig - a wedding. I did not want to do it, I was scared to death, but I am proud of myself that I did. There is no way I could have accomplished it without my best friend. She came along (it was in UT) because she wanted a day without responsibility. Little did she know she would be responsible for my brain. She had to whisper things in my ear like, "don't forget to get the groom in this shot." Oh yeah, he is kind of important! I'll post the pictures soon, I don't want to anyone to see them until the bride and groom see them - but I am happy with how they turned out.
Because of how busy I had been the past two weeks, I decided I had had enough and I needed to be with just my little family, no distractions. Steve had an unexpected day off, so I decided we were going to take advantage of it. We had been toying with the idea of going to California to spend some time at the beach, but we didn't know if we could pull it off. Saturday morning I taught one more class (the last of them for a couple of weeks). As I was cleaning up I decided we were were going to go. At 1:30 and started searching the Internet for last minute deals. I quickly packed everyones' suitcase and waited for Steve to get home from work. We were able to make it out of town by 4:30 - not too bad!
We had a great trip. We spent every minute playing with each other either at the hotel pool or at the beach. Our swim suits never had a chance to completely dry! We also stopped at a few of our favorite Southern California restaurants and did some damage there as well. It was a great get away - one we desperately needed.
Clara was playing and having a great time. She then reached up for me to hold her and within seconds this is what happened.
She was zonked!

Perfect! I love the zonked pics. Such an angel.
Can't wait to see the wedding pics. Congrats on your first gig - I bet the pics are stunning.
You DO sound busy! Congrats on your wedding!! I'm sure you did awesome, you have a talent.
My sister-in-law went to one of your classes & said it was great. I know the feeling you are talking about though, when your days as a "stay at home Mom" get filled up with all the other crap, and you have no time for kids, house work, meals, keeping sanity. What's the point of that?! I have been asking myself that question. When life slows down (insert laugh here) we should do a park day.
We did that a few times with our kids, and they always turned out being the best trips. My kids still talk about the time we went out to dinner and kept driving to Disneyland!! I am so glad you got to slow down a little! I really want to come to one of your classes. Let me know when I could attend one.
It looks like you had a great time. We are going in a couple of weeks. No amusement parks just the beach. I can't wait. So are you teaching photography classes? I so want to learn how to take really great pics.
Sweet little Clara... it looks like you had fun and I am soooooooooo jealous it's not even funny! I grew up in Southern California, blocks from the beach... ask me how many YEARS it's been since I've been back. Anyways, I am so glad you were able to get away and play!
What kind of classes are you teaching?
I'm looking forward to seeing the wedding pictures!
