Guess who's dead...

I went to check the bowl of water and plate of cricket legs this evening in Brodge's jar and found our little insect all stiff and rigamortis-y. Poor little guy never had a chance all cooped up in that old pickle jar.
.
He was a good bug. He (I assume) was always up for a good staring contest or would just sit on his branch and listen to our fascinating human stories (even though he didn't have any ears). Brodge will soon be forgotten once the next roach, beetle, worm, or grasshopper is found out in our dead grass.
.
As a family, we have decided to not hold services due to the declining economy. We made the difficult decision to just chuck him over the banister on our porch and allow the pigeons do what they may.

I'm so sorry for your loss! It's good to see that Brodge made it to insect heaven!

at least he died of natural causes...our mantis died after Justin turned him into a quadriplegic! i feel bad for bugs in our house. we just caught a tarantula and gecko last night. they are under ADULT supervision. hopefully they outlast poor brodge and our nameless mantis.

I'm so sad to hear that Brodge has passed. I think it is great that you let him keep insects. I personally dont like them and have taught my cousin to say ewwww whenever she sees them....maybe that isnt such a great idea afterall

we lost our mantis, "Mantee", to the same fate a couple months ago.
It's funny that they die in the praying position, I thought. We buried ours in the backyard after having the boys say something they liked about him. They were so distraught, so I had to have a service. We have to get a pet that lives a while longer.
