On Saturday, Amy (my BFF) and I participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walk. She has participated in the walk quite a few times, and I was excited to be able to do it with her this year. We even created our own team - "Amy Squared."
I was so overwhelmed when we first walked up to the starting point. I was relieved I was wearing my glasses because Amy would have seen tears in my eyes had they been off. I was so glad I woke up early to participate. I was impressed with the amount of people who came out to support such a great cause. Even though the walk was for breast cancer, I couldn't help but think about my dad the entire time we were there. He died of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma 4 1/2 years ago. I kept thinking about the struggles that the families of these women were facing. I've been there, I know what it is like to see this awful disease take the life of a loved one. My heart was breaking for them, but also rejoicing in the strength that they had.
After the race, we were walking back to the car and saw everyones favorite weather lady, Sherry Swensk. We were like a couple of little girls, our conversation was as follows...
Me: No, you go ask her!
Her: No, you go.
Me: Come on...
Her: Just go ask, you can do stuff like that!
(It went on for longer than that, I just wanted to give you a little taste.)
I am glad to say I am the one who finally got the nerve up to go ask her for a picture! I did kind of fib and tell her my son would be thrilled to see us in a picture together (hey, don't judge me, I needed an ice breaker). I will have to show him the news and then the picture so I can rectify the lie. If you know me at all, you know I have an extremely guilty conscience.
***After looking at these pictures, I now understand why people ask us ALL THE TIME if we are sisters. ********

We are both just a couple of big boobs! Thank you so much for sharing the day with me.
I looked for you, but couldn't see you among the 16,000 others. Dang it! It was amazing, though wasn't it? All those people for such a great cause. My Dad had AML leukemia, so I am with you, I think any attention to cancer research is a great thing. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad.
